The sound of a kelpie's tail entering water is the same as thunder, and those who pass rivers and hear unholy wailing or bowling fear it's a Kelpie. They have the power to transform into either a white tame pony to lure children or a beautiful young woman to lure men and boys they, are often seen beside rivers of Lochs feeling unable to resist its siren-like appeal the victim will approach and the Kelpie will persuade them to sit on their back, however, once the child is on their back the spirit will change again into a huge terrible looking beast with red or jet black eyes and a sticky coat and mane, the Kelpie will then jump into the water dragging their victim down to the depth to devour them. The name Kelpie could come from the Gaelic words "cailpeach" or "colpach" meaning heifer or colt. Kelpies are malevolent shapeshifters, aquatic spirits originally from Scotland (but all Celts use this creepy myth as a "boogeyman" story for children to be careful around water. My very worst story told to me by my Irish granny. KELPIE (CRYPTID) - Monsters Vault (image taken from. I can't but imagine how amazing and terrifying at the same time the fact that my mom and uncle were actually fortunate to see a mythical creature, and what would have happened if they approached it rather than run away. The legend says the kelpie presents itself as beautiful horse so that when you see it you'll be astonished by its beauty and go for a ride on its back, but once you do that it'll be too late for you, and you wouldn't be able to get down, that's when the kelpie takes you with him deep into the water. But it was only recently when I was going through some videos on youtube about mythical creatures and stuff, because I love that stuff, I found out that there was a creature called "the kelpie" that fits accurately with my mothers description of the white horse they saw back when they were young. I remember hearing about this story since I was a child. It was then when my mom knew she wasn't looking at something natural and took my uncle and started running back to the camp site. At first they thought it was just someone's horse that got lost and somehow got into the water, but suddenly the horse started going deeper in the water, as if it was like his natural habitat. They say it was a majestic horse that moved slowly and just kept staring back at them with those big black eyes. She and my uncle were under shock from what they were seeing and couldn't believe what they were looking at. My mom told us, the shinny white thing was actually a horse emerging from the water, but what you could see is just his head and front legs, as if he was sitting there, a white and reaaally beautiful horse shinning under the light of the moon. And this is where things starts getting interesting. While my uncle was trying to find a nice spot to relieve himself, he and my mother saw something like really shinny emerging from the waters, they didn't know what it was but kept getting closer and closer to see what it was, they eventually found themselves out of the small forest and just staring at this thing. My mom always described the place as really beautiful, the beach, the forest, the sand, the ocean.and especially that night, it was a full moon and a clear sky. So they eventually kept going until they found themselves near the small forest you would go through to arrive at the camping site. My mom kept telling him that they were far enough from other people but my uncle kept telling her he needs to go farther. One night, my uncle felt the urge to relieve himself, and being the shy kid that he was, he would always go far from everyone but still ask his sister to accompany him. It was their favorite spot and they were always camping there. When they were young (my mom 19 years old, and my uncle 10 years old) they went camping on a beach with my grandparents. It's a story that whenever the opportunity presents itself, she would always tell it to us in complete seriousness, and my uncle would always back ker up. I remember this story my mom always used to tell us, and still tells it until now, about her and my uncle when they were young. So basically the reason why I'm terrified is this.
